Delhi NCR
National Capital Region is 33,578 sq. km. This includes:

National Capital Territory of Delhi (1,483 sq.km.)

Haryana Sub-region (13,413 sq.km.) comprising of eight districts of Faridabad , Gurgaon, Rohtak, Sonepat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat and Mewat.

Rajasthan Sub-region (7829 sq. km.) comprising of Alwar district.

Uttar Pradesh Sub-region (10,853 sq. km.) comprising of five districts namely, Meeurt, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr and Baghpat.

The NCRPB has been drafting the Regional Masterplan 2021 for the last few years. The Delhi Development Authority Masterplan 2021 has also been co-ordinated with the Regional Masterplan. But both are awaiting clearances and notification. Currently, the laws of individual states are applicable to the towns and cities in the region
Hyderabad

Hyderabad , which became the capital of Andhra Pradesh in 1956, is strategically located in India with National Highway No.7 and 9 passing through it. 

The metropolitan area of Hyderabad is governed by a master plan drafted by The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA). HUDA has prepared two master plans and 20 zonal development plans of which one master plan and 18 zonal development plans are already notified by law and in force

Chennai

Chennai is the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu. The city development is enforced by two different departments

Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA): CMDA is a (Town) Planning Authority constituted under the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act 1971. It regulates all physical developments within Chennai Metropolitan Area on planned lines. For this purpose CMDA has prepared a Master Plan which designates the land use permissible in every part of the Chennai Metropolitan Area. The Chennai Metropolitan Area consisting of 306 villages in 10 Panchayat Unions, besides 28 Town Panchayats, 8 Municipalities and 1 Cantonment covers 1177 sq.km. CMDA prepares development plans viz. Master Plan/ Detailed Development Plans for spatial development of Chennai Metropolitan Area, with a public consultation process.

Bangalore

Bangalore is the principal administrative, cultural, commercial and industrial centre of the state of Karnataka. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) takes care of the planning function in the city. It was constituted on 16 January 1976 under the Act of the state legislature.

Mumbai

The country's financial capital, Mumbai contributes 10% of all factory employment, 40% of all income tax collections, 60% of all customs duty collections, 20% of all central excise tax collections, 40% of India's foreign trade and Rupees 40 billion (US$ 9 billion) in corporate taxes.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR)'s present revision of Regional Plan under section 12(12) of the MMRDA Act, 1974 constitutes revision of all these plans in an integrated manner.

Kolkata

Kolkata is the oldest and the second largest metropolis in India.

Kolkata Municipal Development Authority (KMDA), is the statutory planning and development authority for the Kolkata Metropolitan Area (KMA) under provision of the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning & Development) Act, 1979. Initially formed under a Presidential Ordinance in 1970, it is today the agency for planning, promoting and developing the KMA.

Besides the planning and implementation of selected schemes, KMDA started the preparation of existing Land Use Maps and Registers (LUMR) as well as Outline Development Plans (ODP).The amendment of the Act in 1994 (provided) for preparation of Land Use Development Control Plans (LUDCP) in place of ODPs.

Pune

Known as Oxford of the East, Pune is located in the western state of Maharashtra . As per 2001 census, the population of Pune Metropolitan Area is three million, spread over an area of 430 sq kms.

The city is administered by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), known as Pune MahaNagarPalika which came into existence in 1950.
